An educational and enjoyable booklet about school bus safety for all elementary age students.

A DELIGHTFUL SHORT STORY about a groundhog named Gerry and his school bus adventure. This

educational and entertaining teaching aid was developed and written by Maureen Moore, a public school

bus driver. This booklet is a helpful tool for teachers who give school bus safety lessons in the classroom or

anyone  required to fulfill state mandated bus safety instruction. Gerry is an ideal handout to give all elementary

school age children to help them understand the importance of obeying school bus safety. Full color photos

accompany each page of the story.

A Word from the Author…

I sometimes sit in front of our middle school for a few minutes in the afternoon with fellow bus drivers while

waiting for the children to be dismissed. One afternoon a family of groundhogs decided to check out what was

going on. Fortunately, I had my camera with me and took pictures of the groundhogs at play. I decided I wanted

to share them with the students on my bus, so I wrote a book about the groundhogs. That’s how Gerry the

Groundhog was born.

The response to the book was so tremendous that I felt compelled to share it with other school districts. The book has

been sold to schools in 16 states, as well as, in Canada. Since I feel so strongly about school bus safety, I hope that

this book will help with reinforcing safety issues with all school age children.
